Hawk Mountain Council

Who we are and where we’re going

The Hawk Mountain Council is one of more than 300 Boy Scout councils nationwide, providing Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Venturing and Exploring to nearly 6,000 youth in Berks County, Schuylkill County and the Panther Valley region of Carbon County. Scouts of the Hawk Mountain Council are among four million nationally.

The Council, which was formed in 1970 through the merger of the Daniel Boone and Appalachian Trail councils, has its headquarters at Cross Keys, just north of Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania. It is led by the Scout Executive and his staff, the Council Executive Board, and the Council Committee. The Council supports the districts within it, maintains all membership and advancement records, operates a trading post for supplies, maintains a list of counselors for each of the 121 merit badges, and runs summer and year-round camping at its camp, the Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation.
